«Με γεια!» – A wish for a new look
In Greece, when someone gets a haircut, it’s common to say «Με γεια!», which literally means “with health”.
The word «γεια» comes from «υγεία» (health), so the wish is a way of saying: “Enjoy it in good health!”
But that’s not just for haircuts!
If your Greek friend buys something new, like a new pair of shoes, a bag, or even furniture, you can say «με γεια!»
That way, you express that you’re happy for them and wish them well with their new purchase.

Katerina Lioliou

Giannis Fakinos
