What about learning Greek on Naxos island?
Learning to speak Greek is usually more fun and easier when you are in Greece, and that is also the reason why the Omilo school started organizing Greek Language and Culture courses in Greece. Since 1997 we have welcomed participants in various locations, such as Athens, Nea Makri, Limni (Evia), Hydra, Andros, Syros, Nafplion, Lefkada….
Because many students return every year and like to go to different areas in Greece, in 2023 we decided to add one more location to our programme.
And that is….
…the island of Naxos.
In October 2023, the very first Naxos course took place, with 25 students.

After the successful Naxos course in 2023,
Omilo decided to organize a 1-week course on the island of NAXOS once again,
from Tuesday October 1st till Tuesday October 8th 2024.
Αποφασίσαμε να οργανώσουμε για άλλη μια φορά το πρόγραμμα στο νησί της Νάξου,
από την Τρίτη, 1 Οκτωβρίου μέχρι την Τρίτη, 8 Οκτωβρίου 2024.
Why this course is not listed like the other courses on the “course overview“?
Simply, because last year and up till now we had reserved the course for “returning Omilo students”.
At the moment (April 2024) we only have an extra 12 places available.
We decided to offer the possibility to register firstly to Omilo students and those reading our blog articles, and our Newsletters 🙂
From 2025 onward, the course will be also announced as the other courses.

About the Course on Naxos island ; October 2024
The course will take place for sure, and here below you can find more details;
1. This is a 1-week course, from
First day; We start on Tuesday October 1st, 6pm, with info meeting and tavern meal
Last day; Tuesday October 8th, 2024, 2pm.
2. Location: Naxos town = chora = harbor, (so where the boats arrive)
3. The lessons will take place in the castle of Naxos Town
(exact meeting point and address will be communicated after your registration)
4. Levels; This course is reserved for the Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and as well as Advanced 1 levels.

Class info / levels
Three hours lessons /day (more info about teaching schedule below)
Classes will be between 3 and 8 students per language level
(Two hours/day when there are only 2 students per language level)
5. Please be aware you need to be fit enough to walk up stairs, and walking till the castle.
If you have problems walking, then this is not a course location for you.
Είναι πολύ σημαντικό να ξέρεις ότι θα πρέπει να είσαι σε καλή φυσική κατάσταση, ώστε να ανεβαίνεις σκάλες και να περπατάς μέχρι το κάστρο.
Αν έχεις δυσκολίες και προβλήματα με το περπάτημα, τότε δεν πρόκειται για μια καλή τοποθεσία για εσένα.

What is included in the price?
18 hours of Greek lessons, if your class has a minimum of 3 students (see above)
6 teaching days

Cultural activities
7 . Cultural activities (afternoon)
Four afternoon activities (from 7pm) are offered, such as Greek Dancing, Greek Songs, Guided walk, a lecture related to Greek culture, etc..
The exact programme will be announced to you on the info meeting in Naxos.
Most of the activities last from 1 to 2 hours

NAXOS – October 2024 – HOW TO REGISTER
If you would like to register for the Naxos course from October 1st till October 8th 2024,
then the procedure is as follows;
1. Please send an email to info@omilo.com,
with “NAXOS 2024 course + YOUR NAME ” in the subject line.
2. In the email, please mention ;
your name and last name,
nationality,
date of birth,
telephone,
mother tongue and which other languages you speak,
your estimated level in Greek ( at this moment ).
(give us some extra info; mention which books you used, if you have lessons abroad, etc…)
3. After receiving your email (info@omilo.com),
we will answer you within 3 working days if there is a place available,
and if so, you will receive the confirmation letter, more details and payment info
As with the other courses, we will request to pay the advanced payment of 350 euro within 1 week
and the remaining amount is due by August 1st
(2 months before the course starts).
4. Language Levels :
This course will be reserved for the Intermediate 1, 2 & Advanced 1 levels.
(So we do NOT organize group lessons for Beginners 1 and 2, neither for Advanced 2 levels)

Teaching schedule
Lessons take place on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
Saturday is a free day for everybody, without classes.
An excursion to explore Naxos island together, will be proposed.
The Int1, Int2 and Adv1 classes have 6 days of lessons (3 hours/day) ;
morning classes from 10.00 to 13.00
The last day of classes is Tuesday 8/10.
There will be a break of 30 minutes every day.
There is an opportunity to drink coffee (or something else) at the course location in the castle, as well as in a café next door (castle)
However, if we need to form more than 3 classes (in case the levels are too different),
there will be a rotating system, and every level/class might have their lessons 1 or 2 times in the afternoon (2 till 5pm).
It gives you the possibility to visit museums or a beach in the morning, as well as in the afternoon.
The last day of the course is Tuesday October 8th, the program finishes at 14.00.

Terms and Conditions, Cancellation Policy
After receiving your registration form, we will answer you within 3 working days if there are places available or not.

If a place is available, you will receive the confirmation letter with payment details in that same email.
===================
Omilo does not require an enrollment fee,
but an advance payment of 350 Euro is due within 1 week after we send you the confirmation letter by email.
If we do not receive your payment by the due date, we can not guarantee your place in the course anymore.
This means that, if you still want to register later on,
you will need to check with the Omilo administration again (info@omilo.com) , if your place is still available.

The advanced payment of 350 euro is non-refundable.
However; We understand your plans sometimes need to change unexpectedly.
Therefore..
When we receive your cancellation for a minimum of 3 months
before the start of your course (till July 1st 2024);
1. you can check with your travel insurance, for possible reimbursement (depending on the reason of your cancellation)
OR
2. you can re-book for another Omilo group course within 12 months, and re-use your advance payment of 350 euro.
OR
3. you will receive a voucher for 6 Online private lessons (50 min. per lesson),
which can be used within one year after your cancellation.

The remaining course fee of 410 euro,
must be paid the latest 2 months before the start of your course–> till August 1st.
If registering less than 2 months before the start of the course (given that places are still available)
you will be required to pay the total course fee upon registration.
===================
If you decide, after your registration and full payment, that you want/need to cancel your registration,
please let us know in writing as soon as possible.
a. If you cancel your course at least 60 days before the start of the course,
you will be refunded the paid tuition minus the 350 euro (advanced registration payment)
b. If you cancel your course between 60 and 25 days before the start of the course,
you will be charged 80% of the total course fees. The remaining amount will be reimbursed.
c. If you cancel your course less than 25 (twenty-five) days before the start date of your course,
the full amount of your tuition fees will be charged.
Should you leave before the end of the course, arrive after the start of the course or only attend part of the course, the full tuition will be charged.
