In 2021 Omilo celebrates 25 years! However, a celebration in corona times is no fun, so we are waiting for a better moment 🙂
In the meantime, Maya and Dimitris (founders of Omilo) as well as several teachers will participate in interviews, videos and podcasts.

Below the first introduction by Maya (sorry for the bad quality of the recording! The next videos will be much better quality, we promise!)

Maya explains;
a. how Omilo came to life in 1996,
b. how and where the first Greek Language and Culture course was organized in 1997,

Hello Dear Omilo friend!
Γεια σου αγαπημένη φίλη / αγαπημένε φίλε!

Today it’s Valentine’s Day, and one of those days we are supposed to be romantic, spending a nice day with our love, book a romantic dinner, go for a romantic walk…

Lees meer

Lefkada, also called Lefkas, is a beautiful Greek island in the Ionian Sea on the west coast of Greece; south of Corfu, and North of Kefalonia island. The island is connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge. Because Omilo organizes every year a 1- and 2-week course on Lefkada island, during the month of June, we love to introduce you to some facts as well as to the rich mythological tradition of this Greek island.

In June 2020, unfortunately, the Lefkada course was canceled due to the corona-lockdown in Greece.
We are optimistic and hope that in 2021 we will be once again welcoming our students, to this beautiful island.

So where does the verb “omilo” come from?  Let’s have a look at the etymology!

On May 2nd, 2020, we wrote an update email, on how Omilo is dealing with the corona crisis, as well as the situation in Greece. We also suggested to our students, from all over the world,  to write their “story”, on how they deal with the corona months, at home.

We are happy many students wrote to us, in Greek or English. Here below you find the (corrected) Greek stories that were sent to us, as well as some English versions:
