The Greek movie “Notias” (Greek for “southern wind”) , by Tassos Boulmetis, was released in 2016. A beautiful movie, filmed mostly in “Athens of the sixties” and for sure liked by our students learning Greek!
About the Director
Tassos Boulmetis is also the acclaimed director of the award-winning film Politiki Kouzina (A Touch of Spice), released in 2003.
As in Politiki Kouzina, the beautiful and evocative music in Notias was composed by Evanthia Reboutsika, known for her unique ability to blend Greek and Eastern Mediterranean melodies.
Greek movie Notias – Synopsis
From the moment young Stavros experiences his first feelings of love, a spark is ignited—his passion for storytelling begins to take shape. Set against the backdrop of the eventful decades of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, his imagination is constantly fueled by history, mythology, travel, and romance. As Stavros journeys from adolescence to adulthood, he creates vivid stories inspired by the world around him. In confronting the realities of life, he transforms his fantasies into film and gradually discovers his own voice and identity.
