Greece is rich in music and depending on the geographical regions, there are different Christmas and New Year songs, using different instruments and rhythms.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWe selected some examples of &#8220;kalanta&#8221; here below,\u00a0 and at the same time took the opportunity to introduce you to some Greek geography! Enjoy!<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Christmas Carol from Crete: \u039a\u03ac\u03bb\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1 \u03a7\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5\u03b3\u03ad\u03bd\u03bd\u03c9\u03bd \u039a\u03c1\u03ae\u03c4\u03b7\u03c2<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Crete is the largest island in Greece and the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is also the most populous island in Greece with a population of more than 600,000 people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Zl82JL4JxjY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">A Carol from\u00a0 Thrace, North Greece \u2013 \u039a\u03ac\u03bb\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1 \u03a7\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5\u03b3\u03ad\u03bd\u03bd\u03c9\u03bd \u0398\u03c1\u03ac\u03ba\u03b7\u03c2<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Western Thrace is a geographic and historical region of Greece, located between the Nestos and Evros rivers in the northeast of the country. Together with the regions of Macedonia, Epirus and sometimes Thessaly, it is often referred to informally as northern Greece. It is also called Greek Thrace to distinguish it from Eastern Thrace, which lies east of the river Evros and forms the European part of Turkey.<br \/>\nIn Thrace live about 370.00o people. More than two-thirds of the population are Orthodox Christian Greeks, while the other third are Muslims, who are an officially recognized minority of Greece. Of these, about half are of Turkish origin, while another third are Pomaks who mainly inhabit the mountainous parts of the region.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-6okovmuf-M\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">New Year Carol from Ikaria \u2013 \u03ba\u03ac\u03bb\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1 \u03a0\u03c1\u03c9\u03c4\u03bf\u03c7\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd\u03b9\u03ac\u03c2 \u0399\u03ba\u03b1\u03c1\u03af\u03b1\u03c2<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ik<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">aria belongs to the Aegean islands \u2013 separate islands in the North Aegean Sea, but are often grouped under the general term for tourist or administrative purposes. The largest among them are Lesbos (the third largest island in Greece), Thassos, Samos, Chios, Ikaria, Lemnos and Samothraki.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U8L6ffe7kks\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">A Carol from the Dodecanese islands \u2013 \u03ba\u03ac\u03bb\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1 \u03a0\u03c1\u03c9\u03c4\u03bf\u03c7\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd\u03b9\u03ac\u03c2 \u0394\u03c9\u03b4\u03b5\u03ba\u03b1\u03bd\u03ae\u03c3\u03c9\u03bd<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Dodecanese are a group of 12 larger plus 150 smaller Greek islands in the Aegean Sea, of which 26 are inhabited. The most historically important and well-known is Rhodes (Rodos), which, for millennia, has been the island from which the region is controlled.
