Apart from the slightly different spelling, the main obvious cause of this confusion is the accentuation; it\u2019s just a twist of the accent that makes these two words sound differently.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAs Greeks have usually a tendency to speak fast, it can be really hard sometimes for someone who learns Greek as a foreign language to distinguish between these two Greek verbs!<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff6600;\"><strong>To take |\u00a0\u03c0\u03b1\u03af\u03c1\u03bd\u03c9<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2>The basic meaning of \u2018\u03c0\u03b1\u03af\u03c1\u03bd\u03c9\u2019 is \u2018to get\u2019, \u2018to take\u2019,<br \/>\nbut of course it can be used in many different contexts:<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/thdvHQfOs8U\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. to take<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u03a0\u03ac\u03c1\u03b5 \u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u03bf\u03bc\u03c0\u03c1\u03ad\u03bb\u03b1 \u03c3\u03bf\u03c5! \u038a\u03c3\u03c9\u03c2 \u03b2\u03c1\u03ad\u03be\u03b5\u03b9 \u03b1\u03c1\u03b3\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03b1!<\/p>\n<p>Take your umbrella with you! (for means of transport) to take\/to catch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u039a\u03ac\u03b8\u03b5 \u03c0\u03c1\u03c9\u03af \u03b7 \u0395\u03bb\u03ad\u03bd\u03b7 \u03c0\u03b1\u03af\u03c1\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c4\u03bf \u03bb\u03b5\u03c9\u03c6\u03bf\u03c1\u03b5\u03af\u03bf \u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u03c0\u03b7\u03b3\u03b1\u03af\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c3\u03c4\u03b7 \u03b4\u03bf\u03c5\u03bb\u03b5\u03b9\u03ac \u03c4\u03b7\u03c2.<\/p>\n<p>Every morning Helen takes the bus (and she goes) to work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.
